Hi all, new to the forums here. Genuine Tamiya addict, been running them for over 17 years now. I'm usually on the off road forums, but I do run onroad occasaionally and will be rebuilding my collection of BigT touring cars over the course of the winter. I've sold off all my other brands and have collected only Tamiya now for parts compatability reasons. Currently have a TA02 (several), TB01, TB02, TA03, TL01, M04, M02, F103GT and an FF01.
This rebuild is using TA02 parts. Some are from an original issue S10 truck, some are from a hummer, and some from an original Skyline back in the day. I think the TA chassis is a very versatile platform and have build all kinds of vehicles out of it. In any case, this one is a 1969 mustang build using an ABS body from an old radio shack kit. Just getting started, and lots of builds going on, so bear with me if progress is slow.
Plan and base chassis cut - stock chassis for comparison. Came from a Hummer, and the previous owner had painted it green for some reason:

Mounted and a new top plate cut...did some finish work on the upper chassis, but the lower is still rough cut. Plan to mill out the lower one as well, and still have some holes to drill. Both are going to be painted black I think, but not sure yet. Swapped over all my original red gearbox pieces to black as well.

new steering assembly - cut down some 1/4 inch aluminum rod as standoffs, drilled them out for a 3mm screw and modded yet another set of TA steering arms. Smooth and silky! Have to replace that z-bend linkage yet though.

New wheelbase - much better...always measure twice!!

More to come!
