I have a TA03F-S and have always used Tamiya's AV pinions but was never quite 100% sure what pitch they actually were. I was told they use .6 Module pitch or 48p Metric but not sure if that is correct or not. Anyone know the answer so I don't have to contact Tamiya tech support?

from what i've been told over the years, the are a metric 48P gears
I know Robinson Racing used (maybe still does) to make 'tamiya pitch' pinions at one time...
but they are definitely not the 'standard' 48P/64P like other cars use

It's really weird because on the TA03 Pro it comes with .4 module piniion?

The standard pinions that come with most Tamiya kits are .6 . This is a metric measurement that is similar to 48 pitch. However, it is not exactly the same and 48 pitch pinions should not be used with .6 pitch gears. .4 pitch gears and pinions are similar to 64 pitch, but once again, they are not the same and should not be used together.
Now, you can stick with the .4 or .6 pitch gears and find the pinions to match your use, or you can switch everything over to 48 or 64 pitch. Spur gears are pretty much universal in touring cars, so you should be able to convert the car to 48 or 64 pitch without any issue.

Ya know, when I was writing my response, for whatever reason (probably old age ;)), I had the image of a TA-04 in my head when I was responding to your question. Now, what I said about the different pitch gears is true. What is not true is my reference to the spur gear on a TA-03 being a universal one. It is not.
Now, depending on which TA-03 you have, you could have either 0.4 or 0.6 pitch spur gear. Look to your instruction manual for a definitive answer. For an F-S, I'm pretty sure that it uses 0.6 pitch gears.
From my examination, it appears that you can use anywhere from a 12 tooth pinion to a 25 tooth pinion. Which pinion you use depends on what kind of motor you install. The lower the winds on the motor, the smaller pinion to use, and the higher the winds on the motor, you can use a larger pinion. Tamiya suggests using a 20 tooth pinion for the stock closed endball silver can motor, so that will give you a starting point. If you are putting in a faster motor, move to a pinion with less teeth.
Here are the part numbers for the pinion sets (they come in sets of two):
50354 - 16t and 17t
50355 - 18t and 19t
50356 - 20t and 21t
50357 - 22t and 23t
50477 - 24t and 25t

Thanks for the info! Call me dumb but I just realized that the assembly instructions DO list the pitch on the spur and pinion options....doh!! Some of the other Tamiya manuals like the one for my M04 do not list the pitch of the gears though.
