Hello everyone,

I have recently got back into this hobby with a long period of time that has gone by. It all started when i saw an AD for the new Re-Release of the Sand Scorcher. While doing some research, I found that my very first car (the Hotshot) was released. I quickly purchased 2 of them. One for the shelf, one to romp around with. Thats when i got a little crazy. I then bought the Grasshopper, Lunch Box, Buggy Champ, 2 Sand Scorchers (order pending with Tower Hobbies) and a Hornet. I think i am just re-living my childhood past.

Now that I have seen that Tamiya America has a track Irvine, i want to race my sons TT-01 that i bought him a couple of years ago. However, i cant just have all the fun, so he can race his and i will buy my own. This is my question... I have raced On-Road before. i may want to be at a competitive entry level or possibly entering an intermediate class. Should I go for a TT-01 (XX) Chassis or a TA? or is there something else i should be looking into? I sort of made my mind on a TT-01 RE because of the dampened shocks and minimal upgrades. Do i really have to purchase a seperate set of rims and tires because of the 24mm rule? S:Tamiya1:hould i go to a belt drive system? Please advise. Any and all help would be appreciated!

I want to remain as stock as possible with perhaps a faster motor with the exception of going to brushless. I DONT want to use a brushless set-up. I would also like to make use of my new LIPO's that i have bought, 5000Mah for 50 bucks a pop!:Tamiya1:

I was in the same boat, I wanted to get back into the hobby after a long hiatus, specifically to race onroad. I never raced in my earlier RC days, just lots of bashing and occasional track practice.

I ended up getting a TA05 V2 with the intention of racing TCS in the GT3 class and probably doing some club racing. I considered a TT01 but realized it just wouldn't be competitive outside the TCS spec class, and its lack of adjustability would likely get boring. I like tweaking with chassis settings to get the best out of a car. I've been to the Tamiya track with it several times getting dialed in with the help of the Tamiya Track regulars (who are very cool guys, very helpful), and I really enjoy seeing progress with each change I make to the car.

I recommend picking up a V2 with the Upgrade Pack (92217), you won't be disappointed. The only upgrades you'd to be competitive are tires (B3s) and some 64p gears. No need to get a new motor if you're planning to race GT3, it's limited to silvercans only.

So the V2 with upgrades is legal in GT3? if so, I'm gonna buy one now and hit the track!
