hi,

I have a problem, and I hope that guys here will be able to shed some light.

This is my setup...

1. TA05 v2
2. Front direct drive (direct spool)
3. Universal shafts

Problem:

When my wheels are pointing either left / right (doesnt have to be at full lock), and with throttle anywhere from 10% to 80%, there is a significant amount of vibration... it sounds even worse... "KRAK KRAK KRAK KRAK".

When I take the wheels off, the problem is not there. i've rotated / tried with different wheels... same thing.

The problem is not there when the wheels are pointing str8.

The problem is also not there with front differential or front one-way installed.

Any thoughts?

This noise is something that is regularly experience when using a spool in the front of the chassis. A little noise is not a bad thing, but a lot of noise can be. I use 46mm universals in the front of the car and only have a slight issue when turning with the noise, but nothing bad. How long are the universals you are running?

Hi Akuntze.. thanks for the reply...

My universals are 46mm... they are from tamiya... i have applied anti wear grease as well..

I'm not sure how serious my chatter is... let me try to describe it... with wheels off the ground, full lock (left/right)... the chatter gets to the extent that the whole front is vibrating and it even effects the front belt as i can see it oscillating...

I will have to try it on mine and see what mine is like. I honestly do not think this is a problem as it is very common with a spool like I said.

Changing the c-hub and knuckle won't do anything to solve the problem. The chatter you encounter with a spool will always be there to some degree. Running 46mm universals in the front, and building the universals with a light coating with anti-wear grease can help, but it will not eliminate the chatter.

If you have triple checked, everything is built right, you have tried a small amount of anti wear grease, your EPA on the radio is adjusted right and the noise is still there, don't be concerned it is normal.

Spools have that inherit chatter, if you can't stand it, just run a ball diff or a one way.
