There are a few things you have to decide:

What you want to improve about the car
What series you are interested in racing in because only Tamiya parts are allowed in TCS
Budget!!! This might be the biggest factor of them all.
Warranty value: not all aftermarket companies will warranty their parts like Tamiya does.

Must have parts are:
Full ball-bearings
Alu. drive shaft
oil filled shocks
hard alu. or steel pinion gear (the stock ons is too soft and will wear quick)
and tire inserts

just to note the TT-01 Type E has a few different hop-ups because of the changes to the chassis.

As mentioned, Get some basic parts, Like Beast_C_A_T states.( I also rec. Sporex Tires)
But take my word for it, don't do MORE than that.
Due to its designed for toughness, suspension system, plastic pinion-Diff gear the car will never perform like a better chassis can. Enjoy it for what it is, If you want more and more performance, get the next level car.. TB03R or a TA05v2 w/upgrade. These two cost a lot more, but will run circles around a 100% mod'd TT01..

I've done alot of mods to my TT01, and most of them are worthless.. A lot of the non-Tamiya Alu. parts make the setup worse, not better! (they do make it look pretty tho!)

I know, I have ALOT into my TT01 and I WISH i did not go that direction.

I have seen both of these kits on the net for sale. Both kits offer free upgrades for about the same price, which kit would be best or are they as good as each other. Can these kits use brushless setup.

The Type-E is the better of the two, but neither one is really designed for a brushless setup to be honest.

If you live in the USA, check this out: Evolution IV (http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=58331) - Can't beat that price!!!

I own this chassis and race it twice a month, it is better than the TB03R and TA05 V.II IMO. To answer your question, all the chassis' mentioned will handle brushless.

It should be a direct replacement. Dog bones are fine, you may need to put a small rubber O-ring (the ones used in oil shocks) in the wheel hubs.

Edit: I would keep the original diffs in because a ball diff needs more maintenance JMO.

i bought a TT01 around 2 months ago. im looking to make it into a drifter....any hints and ideas on what i need to do in order to get there? im a beginner...so try not using too many technical terms :P also...does anyone know where i can find the names of the different parts for the car? my manual has the names of some parts...others just have "D3" for example but dont explain what it is..any ideas?

Also, how important is it to have a brushless motor on the car? ive got a sport motor at the moment...bottom of the range one.
