View Full Version : How to know if the 540 Silver Can isn't cheated?
Hello guys,
Here in my city, in Brazil, we open a new track.
After 5 year without a track just for EP, last day 9 the track is open.
How we start some races, and our biggest challenge is cheking the races motor to avoid cheating on 540 Silver Can Johnson or Mabuchi.
How we can measure is the motor isnt cheated?
I found on a Canada TCS rules these way
"
Motors must not perform better that a 1.3amp draw at 2volts on a Peak or Orion Motor Performance Monitor.
"
This is a standard check and reliable?
Thanks for helping guys!
best regards,

It should help, or you can use a MuchMore motor checker at 5 volts & follow an rpm limit, like the US TCS rules use(for most regionals & their Nats). I believe tracks have had good luck with an 11,500rpm limit(because that's pretty much what an average silver can will do right out of the box, no break-in)....:Tamiya1:
Thats maybe a good way to know if the motors are "clean".
Take a look on these final race, last week.
I think the cars are too fast for a silver can motor

We are using 2S lipo batteries, but I think the cars are too fast.

Yeah, those look a bit fast for a "box stock" silver can motor, but there are some "massaged" ones out there that are about that fast(if you spend any time at RC Tech's forums, check out the Tamiya Championship Series threads, look for what they call "Red Dot" motors, they're silver cans that've been worked on & then sold to racers, done with secret break-in methods & magnet zapping, etc., they're VERY quick). But if you want to slow them down a bit & even the field, then you might try what I suggested before, as it seems to work at tracks where they do restrict them....:Tamiya1:

Tuba,
You could also post a rule that says, if you use a cheater silvercan motor, we will catch you, strip you and drop you off in the favela naked lol
Grizzbob, thanks buddy.
I take a look on RC Tech's forums and really has a lot of threads about the Silver Can.
I will spend a lot of time read then :)
Raman70, your rule is nice!
:agree:
Thanks buddys:Tamiya1:
