A little project I'm working on for a drift buildoff. Got a ways to go, but coming together well. Front 1 way, rear locked diff, tamiya drift wheels and tires, custom chassis and a mint Nikko body. Wb is about 8.5"

Plan is to strip the decals and paint the body. Not sure which color yet, but nothing crazy.

Thank you both - was thinking Rothmans and Rally tires after the drift BO is over....but I like the look of the low slung street car as well. Decisions, decisions....

more updates coming.

nice set up, are you going to reinforce the drive shaft I worry about it mite not last long, hope that the car does really well:ballchain:

I don't know about the driveshaft, it's was a tight press fit, coated with JB weld and seems pretty strong: see how it holds up. I am a little concerned with the 550 in there, but fingers are crossed.

Chassis is pretty much built, just need the valences front and rear. Then, tearing it all back down for finish work and painting it all black.

New upper deck in place
http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr84/dschlegel/Porsche959/08012010001.jpg

New front shock tower brace/body mount. Note the 22t 550 truck motor stuffed in there. Should be plenty of torque to get the wheels spinning.
http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr84/dschlegel/Porsche959/08012010002.jpg

New rear body mount/shock tower brace. A bit of an odd size due to the body.
http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr84/dschlegel/Porsche959/08012010003.jpg

Stripped the stickers off the body, looks much better!! Not sold on the wheels at all, think I can find something better.

I noticed you have a cup racer in the back ground .. how well does the 959 body fit on the cup racer?

I think something in black rims would be really good

Just messing around, but I really like the black wheels....tore the body apart for some styrene work and painting. Should be getting the chassis painted this weekend as well.

Raman, the CR is too narrow for the 959 body, and the WB is a tad off. the 959 body is around 220mm WB - right inbetween the 2 settings for the CR. It's ok though, have a Porsche body for that too. There's a DF03RA hiding behind it this time.. :)

Little more done, sanded off the mold lines, and filled in the original body mount holes. Looking nasty, but always looks worse before it gets better. :)

Paint is on!! Pewter Pearl Metallic.....a mix of pearl black, silver, and pactra metallic sprinkles. Used enamels mixed up and airbrushed on, came out very well. May use this method more going forward. Little darker than I wanted, but keeps the sinister tone.

Couple of updated pics...

All downhill from here!

Body is all but done, added some new wheels and drift tires. The mesh rims will stay for on road duty.

Tore the chassis apart for paint - is it aluminum...or carbon?
http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr84/dschlegel/Porsche959/09142010001sm.jpg

Hammered finish...I like it. Why silver? Think it'll make sense once the chassis is fully reassembled.

So close, I can smell the rubber burning.....er...um...the plastic melting...

Chassis reassembled. All black except for the silver gearbox. Figured that's about where the motor sits in a 1:1 959, so it should be silver back there.

Electonics in....need to clean up the wiring a bit, but there's not much more room.
http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr84/dschlegel/Porsche959/09142010010sm.jpg

Posing with my 911....Though once that M06 comes out, that body will be on a much more appropriate chassis.

niccce look sweet, hey I was wondering if you had a front and rear tranny that I could by from you, touring car trannys, that way I could do what you did with the porch body, I have a 350z body from tokyo drift but no chassis. I have a set of new rims but no tires and I want to bring it to life could you help

Sorry, nothing for sale at this time. (except a scaler on another forum)

For the cost of the gearboxes, you could almost pick up a used TA roller - they usually go fairly cheap. My last one was a $40 ebay find.

May take a while for a low buck roller, but good ones pop up fairly frequently though.

Final pics! Have a vid coming, and wish I had time before the deadline (Friday) to do something with the taillights, but VERY happy with how it came out. Drives far better than I expected - wouldn't change a thing chassis-wise at this point. Very rare to nail a build first time out.

I found this at a flea market and the guy said it just came in the day before. Talk about timing, would you be able to make a template like u did for ur's, thats when I got a rolling chassis to use to biuld from scratch I'll pay for the shipping for the body and parts so that all can be measured out just right. Its from nikko just like the body u used
