Post up your rally pics. Rally class is big in Finland but never really caught on in the rest of the world. Hopefully it will grow like the SCT class has.

Howdy guys, I'm just getting really back into the Tamiya rally cars lately as even the paved roads where I live are not so good for pure road cars but rally cars offer both worlds on road and off.

Sure here is a few pics of one of my TB-01s with a Lancia body tearing up a local gravel parking lot just a few weeks back. What fun to slide around even with just the stock motor.

I've always loved the Delta Integrale! I have had to admire it from a far being from the United States. I think I am going to get together with a friend of mine who is looking to convert his Dark Impact and get a DF03RA myself. It would be fun to run it at the Tamiya Track here in Aliso.

I would agree, I've never seen a Real Lancia before lol! If it wasn't for Tamiya I wouldn't even know about them or the fun of rally cars either.

Yep, pics of the upcoming release are at tamiya.com

Unfortunately though, they're using the wrong wheels... Looks good anyway though.

I didn't notice the difference in the wheels. I wonder if it is because the Df03RA uses a 26mm wheel and rally tire. Most of our sedans use a 24mm wheel.

Nice pics, how much debris does that inner body stop?

The original wheels and the wheels on the re-release TT-01 (58342) were both the same part number and both 26mm wheels. I am not sure why the change was made, but the part number for the original wheels is 0445250 and is shown as discontinued.

On the TB-01 very little gets inside, just the really fine dust. I like it best for snow since nothing gets in then.

Any plans to clean up the offroad course at the Aliso track? I would love to see a realistic rally course there, something tight and very twisty and just more rally stage-like as opposed to the typical wide-open offroad track that's there now.

Long shot, I know... But if there was enough interest from other people, I'd for sure help work on it. I'd like to get a new rally car from Tamiya, but without a good place to run it, I for one don't see a point.

I don't think you will see that happening since it would take a lot of work, and right now we are in the off season for racing. Also. having a stage type layout on that track would make the track virtually useless to any other off road platform that someone would want to run so it wouldn't make much sense. Leaving it as a general purpose off road track is the best option at the moment.

I figured that the off-season would be the perfect time to revamp the offroad track. But overall, I see what you mean about limiting usability for other kinds of cars. Wishful thinking I guess.

For those of you who didn't see, Ken Block announced he is going to the WRC with Monster next season for select events and full time in 2011. The trick is, he will be switching to Ford.:bangin:

Yes I read that. This is great news, but I kinda wish Subaru was still in the mix. Either way it's going to be a great season. Look out Loeb

I just picked up a RC Castrol Celica '94 - DF03RA Item #92200 (http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=92200) I plan on going around on the dirt at aliso when I've put it together. I've taken my lunch box and df03-ms there, I think it was fun. :Tamiya1:

Nice vid torg, what camera did you use?

It's the gopro hero wide.. I see some hobby stores call it RC hero now, but when I got mine that didn't exist and I got the motorsports one.

I've used some other cameras before, the epicstealth (which is crap) and I put a ball mount and a DV camera on there but the laws of physics don't agree with that!!

I have some more videos using the camera if you follow the links found here (http://tamiyatorg.blogspot.com/2009/08/my-m03-chase-car.html)

The gopro comes with a lot of great 3M tape mounts I recommend buying lithium batteries for it to keep the weight down. There is a limit on the SD card size, I think it's 2GB definitely not more than 4gb. I was also hoping that I could put the SD card straight into my Playstation3, but that video codec is not yet supported. No problem on the PC though.

Can't wait for the HD version (http://www.goprocamera.com/index.php?area=2&productid=29) to come out, it can do 720p @ 60fps, any day now!

I have run a RA-03 on the Tamiya off-road track. I smoothed off some of the jumps to make it easier to rally but the track is hard pack, slick, and dusty I wish they would add some clay to the soil.......

Here In Spain, AECAR, our national federation (The spanish ROAR) hosted a national rally champioship, celebrated at the same time of the electric off roads nationals.

Rules were simple:
up to 200mm wide
Rally bodies
No slipper.
No carbon, Graphite parts.

Off course the grid was full of tamiya's

Because we raced in off road tracks, with jumps, was something like x-games style.

Unfortunately, track owners complained about our bodies, because they said our front fenders were destroying the jumps, so only lasted a year, but a big year

Hello Guys,
These weekend I put my old Ta02 to road on a rally track!
That was really fun :p

But I think the silver can 540 motor is too slow for these.
I use the less lower tooth, but the motor still too hot!

Bye,

Tuba

Go to a bigger spur with a smaller pinion and your temps will drop. What's your gearing?

Tuba

I Use the regular TA02 Spur with a 16t pinion.
Its a 1:11...

I think the motor was hot because the earth on track was "soft"..

sounds like some of the complaints i heard at my local tracks a couple of years ago when we tried to run a rally series

Under the model specs of the DF-03Ra, Tamiya lists them as "New white 16-spoke wheels (Offset +2)". Would a change in offset have anything to do with Tamiya's reason for getting rid of the old ones? I am interested in switching the wheels on my Integrale DF-03Ra to the originals and came across this post. Assuming you're right that the old wheels are 26mm, and seeing, according to Tower, that the new 16-spokes are 26mm, am I okay switching back to the old ones or would the offset be of concern as well?

Using for bashing, or display, you won't have any issues with the correct style wheels rather than the +2 offset. The offset will fill out the wheel arches better, but really it is more of a personal decision as to what looks best.

So was the change in wheels made to complement the DF-03Ra specs? I may be a little confused as to what the change in "offset" is actually referring to...any chance you could explain that? I noticed the '08 Impreza on the DF-03Ra has the same wheels in the traditional Subaru gold, so I assumed the change in wheels on the Lancia must have had something to do with the DF-0Ra itself. I have also been looking for those wheels in the Tamiya parts store and can't seem to locate them -or even a part number. Any suggestions as to where they might be?

PaPeRo

+2 offset means the spokes of the wheels will not be flush with the rim. It will look like deep dish style wheels. It also means the wheels will increase the track by 2mm on each side. They will stick out a little further from the body shell.
