View Full Version : TT01 gearing
What's the highest gear ratio I can run on my TT01 with a Super Stock Type R motor? I run on a large 1/8 scale indoor asphalt track, and I'm currently using 22/58.

After some digging, I found this gear chart online for the TT01, I hope it helps!

does the F201 52t gear fit without modifications?
On the box of the Super Stock Type R, it says to use 25/55 for the TB-01. TB01 and TT01 appear to have the same transmission ratio. Here's a pic from a TB01 manual:

I think I will get the 24,25 AV pinion set and try it out with the 58T spur before moving on to the 55T
Does anyone have a setup sheet for the TT01? Thanks

You can run the Super Stock R or even the RZ's at 25/55, but I wouldn't
They overheat there brushes, and burn them up.
I'd run 22-23 with the 58 spur for a balanced setup.
21 for more Accel and 24 for more speed.
I've been through 3-4 SS R's and RZ's, on 1/8 scale outdoor tracks, and it seemed the best balance of speed and acceleration.
If your indoor track has a lap counter system, use it, and see what your 5 minute AVERAGE is with each change.
just my 2 cents.

i have a problem aligning the motor and gears they don't seam to mesh.i have tried numerous different ways to align them, and the only thing that works is the stock way.i am using a set of aftermarket pinion gears, and i am wondering if the tamiya gears are different.does anyone know the answer to this.
I have read on different forums and I've seen the gear charts where people use the F201 52T spur. I have one but the hole in the center of the gear is a little too big and the gear rubs the chassis. Has anyone used it and solved those problems? Thanks.

yes the mounting points on the motor mount only work properly with the Tamiya gears. Obviously, we cannot guarantee that other pinions work with the mounting options given.

Could anybody tell me if they did put the 28/52 gear ratio on a TT01 and if it worked
Chari - I've been trying to run the 52T spur, but it's made for an F201 and the center hole is too big and it rubs the chassis. On another forum it was suggested to put electrical tape on the shaft and shave or sand down the width of the gear.
Sparky - You have to use Tamiya pinions or ones that are 0.6mm. You cannot use 48 pitch or 64 pitch gears.

you;ve probably got a set of metric or wrong pitch gears.
you must use : 48 pitch "metric" pinion gears
there is 48 pitch imperial pinions also, which won't mesh just right.
Not to forget that maybe you've got the Pitch wrong, theres 32, 48 & 64, and some .6 module ones too!

DOh, my bad, its 0.6mm gears, not 48P metric,
Got to use the gears listened in the tamiya Options, TOWERHOBBIES says they are metric put there not.

went to a local hobbie shop ,and i was told that tamiya uses metric gears.so he sold me a 21 tooth metric gear.although the mesh is much better it still isn't perfect.has anyone tried sloting the holes ,or could i just have another problem i'm not seeing?

the gear set i baught was a 21 tooth 48 pitch.after doing some tinkering i am not sure the noise i am hearing now is a mesh problem i notice my toa4 makes the same noise.what i have read tells me they are both 48 pitch cars.ii am just wondering if because i used a wrong gear if i have damages my spur gears, and thats my problem.well thanks for the info i am gana try new spur gears and see what happens
