So let's talk some rally shall we. I am thinking of doing a project DF-03Ra build and I was wondering what dampers you guys are using? I have a spare set of the TRF dampers i might put on and just add some length. Any input?
Hey.
I donīt have yet a DF03Ra chassis, but its look fine.
I really love rally, its the "real" drift :-P
Take a look of these guy at Slovakia, they really love rally rc cars :-)

The only stranger stuff is the driver running behind the car :p

I have a Dark Impact I converted to a rally and use the TRF shocks. You need to soften them up a bit or the car will bounce to much. I also use velcro to attach the DI body on under the rally body to keep the dirt out, it works great but you may want a fan on the ESC to keep it cool.

The DF03Ra do look great but is it possible to reduce, if not eliminate, the rear toe-in.
I think it is to much....

When you say soften up the suspension, are you changing to a thicker oil or different springs as well?
I run soft springs and oil in mine 25 weight both front and rear.

I've been running my DF totally stock, seems to work quite well tearing around the dirt roads and gravel parking lots where I live. Everything is so sandblasted from gravel on the bottom I didn't want to tear up any nice TRF shock units

OMG:common001: awesome.
I think it would be great if Tamiya include rally at all of their TCS races and just Trackside. Here's a rally video I just found.

I was happy to see the new Datsun, I built a very similar one back in 2006 using an old TA-02 and a JDM ABC hobby body, the new Tamiya one looks more accurate except the hummer wheels should be modded a little and have just 4 lugs.

Does anybody have any problems with rocks getting in where the steering linkage and stuff are? Also the rear gets rocks where the rim and a arm meets because its inside the wheel.

Here's a bit of a different take on the DF03RA. Added some spacers in the shocks to lower it a bit, and swapped in some touring springs..... Running a lightweight NSX body and 3500 BL motor. Makes a great weekend warrior! I consider it a spiritual successor to my mostly retired fleet of TA's since the driveline is somewhat similiar.

I converted a Dark Impact to rally car. The suspension is a bit bouncy. I have also put street tires on it and the Civic body fits well, but it's a bit slow. I have the slipper clutch and changing the gears is a pain because of the metric pitch. I might have to swap back to the non slipper and go witk 64 pitch gears, but that means I have to tear apart the rear trans and replace the top shaft.

Hey guys, do any of you have a Lancia DF03-ra? Im in the process of putting a Lancia body that I had left over from tt01 on the DF03ra. Looks like Tamiya is using different mount holes in the back on the DF03 version.. also the foam bumper looks like it needs to be cut.. my kit was originally the Subaru ..
Any pictures or comments would be appreciated, since the manual is not online
